Ingredients

  • 21 donuts mini, powdered-sugar
  • 1 bag (10 oz) green candy melts
  • 0.25 cup mini candy-coated chocolates red and green
  • 1 candy yellow, star-shaped
  • 1 pretzel stick

Equipment

  • 1 18x14-inch platter
  • 1 microwave

Method

  1. Arrange the donuts on an 18x14-inch platter in a tree shape, with rows of 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 donut, centered and touching.
  2. Melt the candy melts in a medium microwave-safe bowl at 50% power in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until smooth.
  3. Spoon the melted candy over the donuts, covering their tops and filling the joins. While it is still wet, add the mini candies as ornaments, place the star at the top, and set the pretzel stick below the bottom row as the trunk.
  4. Let the tree stand at room temperature for about 15 minutes, until the candy coating is set.

Notes

For neat ornaments, add the candies while the coating is still wet. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the donuts may lose texture. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free donuts and candy melts.
