Cranberry Orange Relish

Cranberry orange relish is a fresh, no-cook side made by pulsing cranberries and orange until finely chopped. Chilling it with sugar for at least 2 hours gives the bright, tart mixture time to meld.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (12 oz) fresh cranberries rinsed and drained
  • 1 navel orange medium, scrubbed, ends trimmed, quartered, and seeds removed
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar

Equipment

  • 1 food processor

Method

  1. Add the cranberries and orange to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
  3. Stir in the sugar.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For the freshest texture, pulse just until finely chopped rather than puréed. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; freezer storage is not recommended because thawing can soften the texture. For a lower-sugar relish, reduce the sugar to taste.
