Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1 package (16 oz) Velveeta cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese softened and cut into cubes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes and green chiles drained
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch square baking dish
  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  3. Cook the sausage in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, until no pink remains and it reaches 160°F.
  4. Drain the excess grease from the sausage.
  5. Add the sausage, Velveeta, cream cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and green chiles, cheddar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and oregano to the baking dish and stir to combine.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the cheeses are melted and the dip is bubbling around the edges.
  7. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the smoothest dip, cut the cheeses into cubes before combining. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the dairy can become grainy. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce.
