Ingredients

For the sausage bites
  • 1 package (14 oz) smoked sausage fully cooked, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
For the hot honey glaze
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method

Brown the sausage
  1. Arrange the smoked sausage in a single layer in a 12-inch skillet and cook over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on both sides.
  2. Transfer the sausage to a plate.
  3. Carefully pour off any excess fat from the skillet.
Make the hot honey glaze
  1. Add the honey, hot sauce, unsalted butter, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet and stir over medium-low heat for 1–2 minutes, until the butter melts and the glaze gently bubbles.
  2. Return the sausage to the skillet and toss over low heat for 1–2 minutes, until evenly coated and hot.

Notes

For a smooth glaze, keep the heat low and stir until the butter melts and the glaze gently bubbles. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the glaze may change texture. For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free butter.
