Ingredients

For the frozen hot chocolate
  • 1 oz semisweet chocolate finely chopped
  • 1 oz milk chocolate finely chopped
  • 1 oz white chocolate finely chopped
  • 2 tsp hot cocoa mix
  • 1.5 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1.5 cup whole milk divided
  • 3 cup ice cubes
For serving
  • 1 cup whipped cream canned

Equipment

  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 blender

Method

Make the frozen hot chocolate
  1. Put the semisweet, milk, and white chocolates in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave at 50% power in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted and smooth.
  2. Whisk the hot cocoa mix and sugar into the melted chocolate.
  3. Heat 1/2 cup of the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until steaming, about 2 to 3 minutes; do not let it boil.
  4. Gradually whisk the hot milk into the chocolate mixture until smooth.
  5. Pour the chocolate mixture into a blender with the remaining 1 cup milk and the ice; blend for 30 to 60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until thick and slushy.
Serve
  1. Divide between two glasses and top each with whipped cream; serve immediately.

Notes

For the thickest slushy texture, serve immediately after blending. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 1 day, though they will lose their frozen texture; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free variation, use dairy-free chocolates, oat milk, and non-dairy whipped topping.
